Mr.Peraino was my favorite teacher at HHS.During my junior and senior years there (94-96) I got to know Mr.Peraino more than just a teacher; he became my friend, a confidant. He and I could talk about anything, like we were high school classmates or something.I am deeply saddened by his loss.It will be hard to walk down the halls of HHS knowing that Mr.Peraino is no longer around.

    ...
If this is the same Mr. Peraino who taught art at Hackensack High.....I use to "sit in" on his classes back in 1977,78.We use to just talk. But one day I used the word shmuck, he proceeded to tell me what it meant and asked me to leave his class. He was a real fun guy. What a blast those days at HHS were.

Sal was a teacher: He touched the future.Sal was a friend: He touched the souls of others.Sal was my cousin: He could always make me laugh. On a fateful day one Autumn, the heavens opened to claim him.And now, this small planet -made mostly of carbon and tears, looks to the heavens with envy.

I was sad to see that a man such as Mr. Peraino, a man who touched so many lives in so many ways, is gone.Mr. Peraino, you will be missed as the one true spirit that challenged and dared your students to dream.May your special light shine in our memeories.
