James Russell Pepper, 83, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and formerly of Port Charlotte, died Feb. 17, 2002, in Murfreesboro.
He was a native of Wausau, Wis., but lived in Port Charlotte for 22 years.He served in the Army during World War II and was a retired hospital administrator.He was a past president of the Rotary Club, and a member of the Red Cross, the YMCA, and the United Way.He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marjorie; daughters Barbara Gore of Stockton, Calif., and Dorothy Hughes of Gorham, Maine; a son, James C. of Rockwood, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
