E. Darilyn Thayden, 68, died Aug. 30, 2003, after a long fight with cancer. She was born in Fresno to Edna Stephens of Phillipsburg, Mont. and Darell Townes of Fresno on March 18, 1935. She moved to Sacramento when she was 14 years old and attended California Jr. High School. In 1953, she graduated from McClatchy High School. She was the first Honored Queen in Job's Daughters, Bethel 74. She attended Sacramento City College and graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in education. She taught in the Rio Linda School District and the San Juan Unified School District for 23 years, where she was a teacher in the fourth-grade at Green Oaks Fundamental School. After her retirement she became a home school manager. She was an active member of the Carmichael Prsbyterian Church as a deacon and member of the Ladies Circle. She was a member of NAMI-Sacramento, CHADD, California Retired Teachers Association, Learning Disabilities Association of California, Arthritis Foundation, Fire Sirens of Lake Almanor and KVIE. She was a member of the Lake Almanor Country Club. -
