    Known as U.S. Patent No. 7,482,059, the coating material already is used in the company's LED lighting products that are sold at retail stores, said Adam Peng, Evident's senior scientist.

    Since the company started in 2001, annual revenue increased from $30,000 to about $4 million 2008. An initial staff of three grew to 21.

    Evident has recorded more than 70 patents, Peng said.
