Before joining the NBC 30 news team in November 1995, Janet anchored weeknight newscasts at WFSB and WTNH.She started her television career in 1978 as a reporter and weather anchor at WWBT in Richmond, Va. In 1981 she moved to WXEX to co-anchor and produce the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news.
Before television, Janet worked as a radio reporter in Washington, D.C., covering the White House and Capitol Hill.She also worked as a staff assistant to former Florida U.S. Sen.

Janet has received many professional honors and awards throughout her career, including an Emmy nomination and an award from the Connecticut Associated Press Broadcasters Association.In 1991, she received a national award from ARC of the United States, formerly the Association for Retarded Citizens.
She serves on the board of governors for the Connecticut Children's MedicalCenter, the board of directors for Eve's Fund, which contributes to both Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services and the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence.She also is a Calhoun College fellow at Yale University.
Janet is on the advisory council for The Shelter For Women, an organization that houses troubled teenage girls.She is on the Hartford Art School, Inc.Board of Corporators at the University of Hartford, and on the board of directors for the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame.She also is on the Women's Health Community Advisory Council for the University of Connecticut Health Center.
Janet has been featured in many national publications including People, Mademoiselle, Working Woman, "O" and My Generation magazines.
Janet retired from NBC 30 Connecticut News on Dec. 22, 2006.
