On Friday morning, Steve Payne, State Farm Insurance, said most damage in Chanute was to houses and cars.Any car that was left outside was damaged, he said, although he had seen no non-drives (vehicles that could not be driven).
By 10:30 that morning, he had had more than 200 claims. He said a catastrophe team was to arrive on the weekend to start doing write-ups on roofs and home-owners' claims and will set up an office on Main Street and call customers for appointments.
"On the auto side, we will be able to utilize a 'drive-through' estimate process that will be set up at Merle Kelly Ford on Wednesday," Payne said.Appraisers were calling customers today to set up appointments.A check will be written on the spot, Payne said.
