Dr. Larry Payne
A new face has filled a new role with Battle River School Division #31.
Entering the senior administration fold is Dr. Larry Payne, a respected educator and author who will serve as the division's superintendent of planning and system improvement.

"I'll be analyzing data to help us make decisions and set new directions.
"One of my mandates is to ensure we have a vision and a road map, and that we're continuing to move forward and achieving our goals relative to our three-year education plan,"
Dr. Payne's resume includes a Doctorate of Philosophy, Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta (U of A), a Master of Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Language Arts (U of A) and a Bachelor of Education degree (U of A).
"I'll also be working extensively on professional development for our staff and looking at how it can support our three-year priorities, but also how it can be implemented in a meaningful way that will impact teachers and the classroom."
An Edmonton native, Dr. Payne began his teaching career in 1988 in Mayerthorpe and then Edmonton before moving on to, coincidentally, Sifton Elementary School, also in Edmonton, where he served as vice-principal.From 1996-1999 he was the principal of Belvedere Elementary School.
