Priyal Patel, valedictorian

Priyal Patel, valedictorian of Katy High School, has lived in Katy her entire life, and has attended Katy High School since her freshman year.She has been involved in numerous activities during her high school years, such as Academic Decathlon, Varsity Bowling, Peer Mentors, and D.A.R.E. Role Models.She is also the secretary of the National Honor Society and part of the Science Olympiad team that placed third in state last year.She herself is a state medalist in Astronomy and Disease Detectives.Priyal has also volunteered at the Memorial Hermann Katy hospital for the past three school years.

She plans on becoming a Blue Devil next year, when she attends Duke University, where she plans on majoring in Economics.She has absolutely no idea what she is going to do with that degree though.Her major is wisely chosen because she was given the Economics award this year.Another award she has won is the KISD Award of Excellence in the At-Large category.

Her parents, Dinesh and Sudha Patel, have had a great part in helping Priyal reach the top and have also encouraged her to fulfill many of her goals.

Priyal received the Jones Scholarship and finished high school with a grade point average of 4.7719.
