The Evening Post's Get Active campaign came to a winning end when pupils from five Lancashire schools descended on Myerscough College in Bilsborrow, near Preston, for the grand finale.After much effort and sweat at the day-long track and field challenge, St Mary and St Andrew's Primary from Barton, near Preston, took the big prize.

Also present yesterday was the mayor of Preston, Coun Bhikhu Patel, and representatives from the Evening Post.

Deputy Mayor of Preston Cllr Bhikhu Patel will officially open the skate park at 2pm, when he will hop on a skateboard and take to the slopes himself.

He said: "Young people are crying out for this kind of facility in the city, so it's great that we have been able to provide it for them.It looks great and I know it is already being well-used.I'm looking forward to giving it a go myself, but not sure I'll be tackling the slopes just yet!

"This is a great addition to Ribbleton Park and will give local youngsters something positive to do in their spare time.Let's hope that it is the first of many skate parks in Preston."
