Mr. Gopalaswami Parthasarathy

Gopalaswami Parthasarathy retired from the Indian Foreign Service in May 2000 after a long and distinguished career.He served as India's ambassador/high commissioner to Burma, Australia and finally, Pakistan and at Indian missions in Washington, Moscow, Dar es Salaam and Karachi earlier.

Gopalaswami Parthasarathy, Former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan and Former Ambassador of India to Cyprus and Australia and a visiting Professor to Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi commented that the dialogue process to resolve the issue of Jammu and Kashmir would have several facets.

"When India dealt with General Musharraf, it was dealing with real power," said Gopalaswami Parthasarathy, a retired Indian diplomat who served as the ambassador in Pakistan when Musharraf seized power in a bloodless 1999 coup.
