In May 2005, as part of the Queensland Government's Senior Officer Mobility Program, Allan Parsons transferred to his current position as General Manager, Fisheries Resource Management for a period of 6 months until November 2005.
In this role Allan is responsible for the design, development and implementation of fisheries resource management plans and arrangements for all marine fisheries in Queensland.
Since taking up this position Allan has been heavily involved in resource management arrangements for the various fisheries contained within the Torres Strait Protected Zone Joint Authority. He has also represented the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries at a number of Fisheries Management Advisory Committee meetings and other Government/ Industry forums.
Prior to his current appointment, Allan served as Director (Public Transport Management) for Queensland Transport. He commenced in that position in June 1996 and was responsible for the development of strategic policy for passenger transport services and the operational performance of air, bus, taxi, limousine and ferry services throughout Queensland.
Allan holds a Bachelor of Business Degree, and has been employed in the Queensland Public Service for over 40 years with the majority of his career being served in Queensland Transport.
Allan is involved in a number of different sporting activities and is also a keen amateur recreational fisher. -
