The Mayor welcomed Ms Lee Parry-Williams, Project Officer, Flintshire County Council to the meeting.
Ms Parry-Williams advised of her appointment as Project Officer for the "Heart of Flintshire Project", funded by the National Assembly for Wales for a three year period and supported by the County Council and the Flintshire Local Health Alliance. She indicated that the aim of the project is to reduce risk factors that contribute to coronary heart disease.
The Project has three elements: identifying those at risk through appropriate screening, the provision of programmes to reduce that risk (fitness / eating etc.) and finally an evaluation of the approach adopted. In Mold the Project will operate within the Bryn Gwalia Estate and will work alongside other initiatives taking place on the estate and link into the schools.Ms Parry-Williams indicated that screening is due to commence in August and advised that she would inform the Town Council of progress.
The Mayor thanked Ms Parry-Williams for her informative talk and indicated that the Town Council looked forward to reports on the progress of the Project.
