Charlene Papale serves as service coordinator at St. Joe.Her duties include tracking the required service hours students at the school perform, as well as scheduling the school's Masses.
"We have two Masses per month," Papale said.
...
"The Bishop comes as often as we can get him," said Papale."He comes about five or six times a year, and always for the Mass of the Holy Spirit, Feast of St. Joseph, Grandparents Mass, and our Baccalaureate Mass."
Papale said that when the Bishop comes to the school, other area priests and seminarians attend.
"We always extend an invitation to area priests to come, and we welcome friends and families as well," she said."The area priests always attend the Mass of the Holy Spirit, as well as the Catholic School Week Mass and our Reconciliation Mass, which we have four times a year."
Students are required to wear their dress uniforms to the Mass, which for girls includes skirts and vests.Boys wear long pants, dress shirts and school ties.
"It's a way to show respect," said Papale.Although many students at St. Joe are not Catholic, all students participate in Mass.
"The students learn about the order of the Mass in their religion classes, and that makes every student feel very comfortable in participating," she said.
