SHANE OWENS
...
Growing up in rural Samson, Alabama was the perfect Country Music training ground for Rust Records artist Shane Owens, who is currently gearing up for the mid-August release of his new CD on Cleveland, Ohio based independent Rust Records.Rust is an "imprint" label with the Universal Music Croup, and will also release Owens classic Country single "Bottom Of The Fifth" in mid-June.Both will be distributed by Fontana, Universal's distribution arm.At the young age of 5, his parents got him a set of drums, and he started singing in the church choir a year later at age 6.The choir had members of all ages, but the youngster's powerful voice drew most of the attention, especially on his favorite hymns, like "I'll Fly Away."While still quite young, Shane's mother and father, a singer himself, separated.Shane and his twin sister, who was born exactly one minute after him, stayed with his mother, who never missed the Saturday night broadcast of The Grand Ole Opry, out of Nashville.Country music was always playing in the Owens household.Artists like Don Williams, Keith Whitley, Ricky Skaggs and especially George Jones and Vern Gosdin became huge influences on Shane.
...
During high school, sports and other school activities took up most of his time, but upon graduation in 1990, Shane found himself a guitar teacher, the highly acclaimed Shelly Commander, and put his focus back onto music.
...
Commander immediately recognized the talent in Owens and put him to work playing in his band on the weekends.
...
Commander's band line-up changed three or four times, but always included Shane Owens. He first went out on his own in 1996, when Shane Owens and his band played the Civic Center in Ozark, Alabama with Confederate Rail Road.He won the Jimmy Dean Country Showdown state competition in Alabama two years in a row in 1995 & 1996, and made it to the semi-finals nationally. Not long after, Owens got married and is now the father of two boys, ages 1 & 6, and still calls Alabama his home.Owens, now 33, has been performing non-stop since that time, sharing the stage with many of Country's top artists including Hank Williams, Jr., Lori Morgan, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Kenney Chesney, Pam Tillis, Ronnie Milsap, Billy Dean, Keith Urban, Exile and dozens of others, while performing all over the South.
...
The tracks on this disc are the best Shane has done thus far, writing 7 of the 13 tunes himself. The others were written by his various music industry friends.

Shane & Blane's blend of country and rock is part of the new movement of country music made popular by artists such as Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, Montgomery Gentry and Keith Urban.
...
"We get a little crazy on stage, because we love the reaction we get from the audience," said Shane.
...
It is their twin harmonies, however, that truly set Shane & Blane apart from everyone else.
...
Shane & Blane's musical influences run the spectrum from country to rock to rap and it shows in their song arrangements."Iron Maiden was a big influence to us," said Shane.
