Ottmann was a late-season addition to the Blast, scoring six goals in Brantford's final five games.

"I came out and watched a few games with full intentions of playing but it didn't happen until the end of the year," said 30-year-old right winger."I was using it (the last five games) to see if I could still keep up and it felt good."

Ottmann has kept in shape during the off-season by playing in a Thursday night league and also by playing one hour of pickup hockey each week.

Ottmann is vice-president of a family owned marketing business.

"We've been very busy but, hopefully, we'll have everything in line this fall so we don't have any time conflicts."

Ottmann, who played major junior with the North Bay Centennials, lined up with the Ohsweken Riverhawks senior squad for a couple of seasons before going behind the bench of the Paris Mounties junior ‘C' team.

"That took up a couple of years but what I found was that I really missed playing," he noted.

Ottmann is looking forward to the coming season, especially with the Blast signing Wells as the head coach and centre Paul Polillo, a five-time scoring champion in the United Hockey League.

"It makes it a lot easier to to make your decision to commit to the team because you know you have good quality people around the organization," said Ottmann.
