    The ceramic work of Joe Ottaway, a visual art teacher at Brisbane North TAFE has been recognised at the 2006 Stanthorpe Arts Festival.

    Mr Ottaway's three piece porcelain work titled the Ovula Series was presented an acquisition award at the launch of the 2006 festival.The pieces will now become a permanent feature in the Stanthorpe Gallery collection.

    The Stanthorpe Arts Festival is held in conjunction with the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival.A 250-strong crowd of artists and art lovers waited anxiously to hear the announcement of acquisitions and awards, given by this years' judge Dr. Philip Bacon AM, of Philip Bacon Galleries in Brisbane.

    "It is certainly an honour to have been recognised" said Mr Ottaway,

    "It is every artist goal to have their work selected as part of a permanent collection, and it is a further bonus to have my work acknowledged by someone as notable as Philip Bacon" he said.

    Brisbane North TAFE Institute Director, Carol Webb congratulated Mr Ottaway on his success.
