    Rob Orwin President

Rob Orwin received a degree in Composition from Chicago Musical College in 1975, and played keyboards in wedding, jazz, and western swing bands in the late '70s. Since moving to D.C. in 1983, he has composed, produced, and recorded works in various genres, including a soundscape for the Traveling Shakespeare Company's "Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Folger Theatre. He has performed in several theatrical productions of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop ("Rhapsody in Rhythm and Rhyme," "Working," "Gorey Stories"). In 1999, he co-founded the Brazilian jazz group Brazil '99 (subsequently Brazil on the Hill) and produced their CD. In 2001 the group was expanded to a quintet and rechristened as Banda Travessia. He has collaborated with Ms. Rothstein and other Washington-area choreographers, including Maida Withers and Joe Drayton. He has been resident composer of Momentum Dance Theatre since 1986.
