    MBPJ squash development programme co-ordinator Mary Ong said they had invited all trainees from centres of excellence in Selangor.

    Under the core sports programme, the Squash Rackets Association of Selangor (SRAS) has set up centres in Executive Club in Klang, Rakan Muda Sports Complex in Puchong, SMK Bukit Bintang in Petaling Jaya and 3K complex in Subang Jaya.

    Ong, who is also SRAS secretary, said it was an excellent opportunity for budding players to get some useful tips from Nicol.

    Squash Rackets Association of Selangor (SRAS) secretary Mary Ong, who is also the MPPJ junior programme co-ordinator, said they were pleased to see their trainees making steady progress.

    "They have a big responsibility and have to justify the trip to Australia.They have excellent results in local competitions.Some of them have also played in overseas competitions.But now they have to start finishing on podium to make an impact in international competitions," said Ong.

    The five players, she added, will have a busy schedule for the next two months.This weekend they will be taking part in the second leg of the Milo-SportExcel junior circuit.

    SRAS secretary Mary Ong said they are impressed by their juniors' results in recent competitions.

    Besides the schools age group competition, Ong said the juniors particularly those aged 12 and below, gave a good account in the Milo-National Sports Council (NSC)- Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) - junior squash circuit held in Penang, recently.

    "Some of them were not among the seeded players but rose to the occasion to win titles.We are convinced that these players could be groomed to take over from the seniors in SRAS' development programmes," said Ong.

    The Selangor Squash Rackets Association (SSRA) secretary, Mary Ong, who is also the organising secretary for the international tournament, said yesterday that they were not putting any unnecessary pressure on the players to feature in two competitions over such a short period of time.

    "Not all the players for the international junior meet will feature in Sukma.Only the top four boys and four girls will represent their states in the Games," she said.

    SRAS secretary Mary Ong said they were delighted with the players' results in the competitions.

    "Several other players were also impressive.For instance, Mohamed Zul Azri gave a good account against Mohamed Rafiee in the boys' Under-15 final.Mohamed Zul Azri is only 13 but he managed to match his opponent in the closely contested match.Though he lost he should be commended.He is one of the most improved players in our programme," said Ong.
