Speaking during its annual "Big Bang" launch event, Margaret Ong, HP's regional vice president for Imaging and Printing Group, said the plan involves the use of new Web-based printing services, tools, enterprise applications, and technologies to expand the company's business.
The new strategy is an attempt for HP to capture a significant share of the 53 trillion digital pages estimated to be printed in 2010 alone - an opportunity valued at more than 6 billion.
The company has actually identified three focus areas for the strategy: Make it easier to print from websites, such as blogs and travel sites; extend the company's digital content creation and publishing platforms across customer segments; and deliver a digital printing platform that lowers the cost of printing for high-volume commercial markets.
In the Philippines, Ong said the company will be setting up soon retail printing kiosk across the country as a way of providing additional access point for consumers to print photos.

The kiosks, Ong said, will complement new and existing printing services, such as Snapfish.com, that HP has assembled to take advantage of the Web 2.0 revolution.
Recently acquired Snapfish, the executive explained, is a free photo-sharing website that would serve as an online backbone for the company's Print 2.0 initiative.
Ong said HP is continuously on the hunt for potential companies to buy as "acquisition is part of the company's strategy to expand and extend the Web as a platform."
