Catherine Ogwen Olson

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mother, sister and friend, Catherine Ogwen Olson (nee Stalker, Jones).Cathy grew up loving the farm life in Sundre.She won many trophies and awards showing sheep through the 4-H Club.Her love of horses continued to grow as she enjoyed many riding adventures with friends.Cathy married her first husband, Dave Stalker in 1977 at Sundre and began her studies in nursing.

In 1979, Cathy stopped her studies and began to raise her three children, Shannon, Thomas and Robert.Cathy worked as a LPN providing personal and medical care to ladies with disabilities as well as in several hospitals.In 1992, Cathy met and married her soul mate, Darcy.Together they moved out to Sundre to raise their family and begin to acquire horses.In 2001, Cathy and Darcy were blessed with the safe arrival of Kassidy to round out their family.Cathy continued to work as an LPN in the Colonel Belcher, Peter Lougheed Centre, Bethany Care Centre, Olds, Sundre, Didsbury and Red Deer Hospitals.Cathy provided wonderful care to all she came in contact with.She was able to put people at ease with her chattiness and good sense of humor and quick laugh.In 2004, Cathy found her niche and was taking courses to become a dialysis nurse.However, before she could complete her training, Cathy was seriously injured in a car accident and was paralyzed from the neck down.Over the past 3 years, Cathy and Darcy continued to enjoy the country life raising their youngest daughter and horses.They enjoyed many camping trips and visits with family and friends.Her love of country music, movies and her elephant collection were a continued source of joy.Cathy was predeceased by her parents and an older brother.She leaves to mourn her passing her best friend and husband, Darcy; daughters Shannon and Kassidy; sons Thomas and Robert; brother Trevor; sisters Elaine (Jim), Lynwen (Tony) as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Olds Seventh Day Adventist Church, Olds, AB with Pastor Bill Wigley officiating.Memorial donations may be made directly to the Spinal Cord Injury Treatment Centre.As a tribute to Catherine Olson, a tree will be planted in the Heartland Tree Memorial Park, Olds.
