Dr. Nicholas Oguge is the Conservation Field Director of the Samburu Research Initiative in Kenya.In this role, he oversees the development and progression of the African CRI in collaboration with the Earthwatch Institute, Oxford, England office.
Dr. Oguge received his PhD in Animal Physiology in 1992 from Lincoln University in Canterbury, New Zealand.Oguge spent three years as the head of the Zoology department in the School of Pure and Applied Sciences at Kenyatta University, Kenya.His other studies have included fertility regulation of rabbits in New Zealand and diet, demography and habitat use of rodents in a Savannah ecosystem.Oguge developed a crop control program for the Crop Protection Division of the Ministry of Agriculture in Kenya.Dr. Oguge has also studied the habitat quality of rodent communities and parisitology and population processes in the fragmented, moist forests of the Taita Hills in collaboration with the university of Antwerp (RUCA) and the Royal Belgium Institute of Natural Sciences.
