Dan Oakes is a police reporter at The Age.He joined the newspaper in 2003 and, after a year as a trainee journalist, spent two years in the sports section, writing mainly on AFL, soccer and motor sports.In 2006 he joined the Law and Justice team and has covered stories such as the shooting rampage by a Hells Angel in the CBD, the Office of Police Integrity hearings into high-level police corruption, the Kerang rail disaster, the manhunt for the father of Qian Xun Que - the little girl left at Southern Cross station and nicknamed Pumpkin, and a car crash near the town of Donald that killed seven people.
