    The Colonel is former superintendent and retired Air Force colonel John F. O'Sullivan.He resigned about a year and a half ago after the Osseo school board decided to buy out the remainder of his two-year contract.In the months leading up to his ouster, O'Sullivan was criticized by board members for not meeting planning goals and lacking "people skills."When the dust cleared, he'd spent less than a year in Osseo.But O'Sullivan came up again as part of a survey conducted by Bill Morris of Decision Resources, a Minneapolis research firm that questioned 400 registered voters in the Osseo area this spring.

    I had the privilege of talking to the new superintendent , Colonel John O'Sullivan.He's says he's impressed with the school system and he's looking forward to a great school year.We have to focus on teaching and learning in the classroom.We have to give our teachers the support they need and that will change the equation in terms of performance on standardized tests.We're going to teach the curriculum not the tests , explains O'Sullivan.The new superintendent plans to visit three schools everyday during this first week.Look out for more from the superintendent throughout the week on THE NEWS AT FIVE.
