John O'Sullivan brings nearly two decades of coaching and playing experience to Oregon Rush with his move to Bend in September, 2006.In his two years with Rush, he has overseen the tremendous growth of the club, as Rush has become one of the top clubs in Oregon.He has overseen the addition of many new programs, as well as a successful merger with Bend Utd SC.In 2008, he coached the 91 Boys Nike ot the OYSA State Championship, and a a quarterfinal berth in the Region IV Championships.He also coached the 94 Boys Nike and 95 Girls Nike to the 2008 OYSA State Cup Semifinals.John holds his USSF A License and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, and has coached extensively in the youth, high school, ODP, and college ranks.Prior to moving to Oregon, John was the Coaching Director for Ann Arbor Youth Soccer Association in Ann Arbor, MI from 2003-2006.While there, he started numerous programs, including a Youth Academy, a Skills Proficiency Badge, a College Advisory Program, and a Coaching Development Program, while also increasing the number of teams competing in the Midwest's toughest league, the Midwest Regional League, from one to six.Prior to his stint in Ann Arbor, John was the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at the University of Vermont from 1999-2003, helping the Catamounts to two America East title games and a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000.He also served as the Assistant DOC for Nordic Spirit Soccer Club, leading the 86' Boys to three State Championships and the Region I tournament.
John is a 1994 graduate of Fordham University, and received his MA in History in 2003 from the University of Vermont.At Fordham, he was team captain and a member of the 1990 Patriot League Champions.He also played professionally for the Wilmington (NC) Hammerheads of the USISL.John is married to Dr. Lauren O'Sullivan, and has a daughter, Maggie Shea, and a son, Tiernan.
