Sutherland Practitioner Award in 1999.In 1998, she was awarded the National Distinguished Professional Award by NRPA and in 2000 was designated as one of the Distinguished Alumna from the State University of New York at Cortland, where she received a bachelor of science degree in Recreation Education.She also holds a master of education degree in Community Recreation Administration from Springfield College and a doctor of philosophy degree in Educational Administration from the University of Connecticut.
