Michael Nolan

Michael Nolan, aged 21, was living in Conniburrow Boulevard, Conniburrow, Milton Keynes, when he committed the offences earlier this year.

He appeared for sentencing at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court on Monday, having pleaded guilty in September.

He was charged with 10 offences of making hoax calls - five to the police and five to the fire service.Six further offences - three hoax calls to each service - were taken into consideration.

Sentencing Nolan, the magistrate said there was no other way of dealing with him than by imprisonment.

"I will make a compensation order instead of sending you to prison for 21 days for punching someone who was only trying to do his job," District Judge Mrs Rosamond Keating told Nolan at Horseferry Road Magistrates' Court.

Nolan pleaded guilty to the assault and abuse at Mile End Station on March 1 this year.

The court heard that he tried to leave the station through the luggage gate.When asked to use the gateline exits, he started swearing at Tube staff.

He also raised his fists and punched one employee in the chest before turning to another member of staff and shouting racial abuse.

Police were called and Nolan was arrested.
