For decades, Mike Nolan, a soft-spoken, purposeful banker, has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the people of New Orleans serving at the helm of Fifth District Savings Bank.This longstanding commitment was tested visibly in the last year, as he helped his customers, employees and community recover in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
In the days following the Katrina catastrophe, Mike lead his executive team into action to get the bank operational, to reach displaced customers so they could access their cash and accounts, and to restructure loans.He then embarked on the grueling task of rebuilding.
Even before Hurricane Katrina, Mike demonstrated commitment to helping others.His bank supported the Buck$ for Firetruck$ program that raised $1 million from Louisiana citizens to replace fire equipment lost at the World Trade Center on 9/11.The funds were used to purchase three fire trucks and five new chiefs' cars for the New York Fire Department.
