    Michael Nolan, the chairman and president of New Orleans' Fifth District Savings Bank and a vocal critic of the bailout program, questioned the wisdom of capping compensation, saying the matter was already among the most transparent aspects of the banking business and best left to the private market.

    In the days following the Katrina catastrophe, Mike lead his executive team into action to get the bank operational, to reach displaced customers so they could access their cash and accounts, and to restructure loans.He then embarked on the grueling task of rebuilding.

    Even before Hurricane Katrina, Mike demonstrated commitment to helping others.His bank supported the Buck$ for Firetruck$ program that raised $1 million from Louisiana citizens to replace fire equipment lost at the World Trade Center on 9/11.The funds were used to purchase three fire trucks and five new chiefs' cars for the New York Fire Department.
