Team member Justin Noel explained, "Bus drivers have to perform pre- and postoperative checks on the buses, but they sometimes skip the postoperative check, and kids sometimes get stuck on the bus, which is a big liability issue."

Noel said the system his team designed makes sure that the drivers perform the checks.

"You have to use the ignition key to turn off the alarm system at the back of the inside of the bus, and you can't shut off that system if there are any kids still on the bus.And only after you've turned off the system can you lock the bus doors," Noel said.
