Nixon Hall, which opened in 1963, is named for Samuel Frederick Nixon, a Westfield, New York resident and a member of the Fredonia College Council from 1932 to 1952. Mr. Nixon, one of the nations leading independent telephone executives, was president to the Chautauqua and Erie Telephone Company, as well as the Dunkirk and Fredonia Telephone Company.
A student room Mr. Nixon was a member of the American Association of Museums, vice president of the Genesee County Historical Society, and from 1932 until his death in 1952, the president of the Chautauqua County Historical Society.
Nixon Hall is a female, primarily freshman, corridor-style residence hall. There are five resident assistants positioned throughout the three floors and one resident director. Most of the rooms in this building have a double occupancy.
Nixon coordinates many activities with the other two freshman corridor-style residence halls, Chautauqua and Alumni. These three buildings have performed dance routines together for the Homecoming pep rally and have collaborated for various other programs in the residence halls.
