In 2001, Nixon joined the Theatre Institute and helped coordinate the Canadian Season in Prague. The festival was a great success, and the following year Nixon headed to Canada with a group of Czech performers for a Czech Season in Canada.
Nixon is now the coordinator of international projects for the Theatre Institute and has organized a festival of Czech theatre in Latin America. This has been followed by this year's Invasion of Europe.
An article in The Prague Post states that Don Nixon has "helped reinforce the country's reputation for being a center of theater."He has also had a local impact as the Czech theatre has been influenced by work from other parts of the world.
