Denny Nixon, the national sales manager for the company, said the doors are sold at lumber stores such as Causeway Lumber Co., which has a location in Bonita Springs.
"We are the only company that can offer you a decorative insulated impact-resistant (door) unit that can be sold anywhere, including the (Florida) Keys, that does not require shutters," he said.
Nixon said his company got an early start developing this new line of doors, using several patented processes in the design. He said some other companies mistakenly believed that doors would not have to comply with the new code.
"There are lot of door manufacturers out there trying to catch up," he said."We have been testing for two-and-a-half years."
Nixon said these doors are also aesthetically pleasing.
"Even the locking system is special.Everything operates by handles," he said."There are no exterior, ugly, flush bolts or surface-mounted bolts."
He said these doors cost between 30 to 50 percent more than a typical door.He said the doors have been approved for installation in Miami-Dade County, which has the strongest codes in the state.
"These can be installed anywhere. There is no place we can't sell them," he said.He said the doors can also be custom-designed.
