Raymond Nichols grew up in a musically talented household where his parents encouraged him to learn several instruments, namely guitar and trumpet.Additionally, his experiences in drum corps in high school proved to be invaluable when he bared his emotions in his solo performances and felt the rush of performing in front of thousands of people.Inevitably, this skilled musician quickly mastered the techniques of DJ-ing and created his own style without any instruction or guidance.

Three months after he bought his first pair of turntables in 2000, a Detroit promoter booked him at the Motor Lounge in Detroit.Early on he captured the ability to read the crowd and he took them on journey as they grooved to his tribal and techno sets.Raymond Nichols' talent and ambition quickly earned him recognition from other DJs and launched his career as a guest DJ for other clubs in metro-Detroit and Canada such as Clutch Cargos, Heat, Club Divine, Tiki Bobs, and Club O.

After honing his deck technique, he landed a residency at Necto in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He continues to gain recognition and pursues perfection in his mixes as crowds are impressed with his clean sets and the flow of energy in his music.Combined with his natural ability, versatility, and love of performing, he has proven to be a step ahead from others in his field because he is truly an entertainer.

In 2005, Raymond Nichols moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and between his career and DJ-ing, he concentrates his efforts on producing music. This rising talent's future appears limitless as he sets his eyes on rocking dance floors all over Las Vegas and abroad.

    Quotable

When it comes to graffiti style art, we have nointerest.
    ...
Raymond Nichols, 22, a rap music DJ and convicted graffiti vandal who now holds an annual "graffiti battle" at Maze Niteclub, 7924 W. Appleton Ave., said Milwaukee is too conservative and needs to take a different tactic toward the graffiti subculture.

The city's task force attacked Nichols' event, which involves doing graffiti on murals.

"Every other aspect of art has a venue for people to learn and show their skills, except for graffiti," Nichols said."By not allowing it, it forces artists to resort to vandalism."

He said efforts to suppress graffiti will only incite greater rebellion among those who embrace the graffiti subculture and says a resolution is possible.

"The city doesn't want vandalism, and the graffiti artists don't want to go to jail," Nichols says."There's a common ground there."
