Christopher (Cuong) Nguyen
Dr. Christopher (Cuong) Nguyen is currently an Engineering Director at Google, Inc. in Mt View, CA. Prior to this, he spent 13 years living and working in Asia, most recently as CTO of Seng Heng Bank in Macau/Hong Kong, developing and executing the Bank's international expansion strategy.Earlier he was CEO of ACTGent Software, building real-time quantitative trading systems for the financial services industry.He co-founded Authosis Ventures/CEO, a cross Asia-Silicon Valley venture incubation firm, and CyberTouch/CTO (today Agenda-Asia in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia) a pan-Asia systems integration firm.He also spent 3 years as Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, where he helped build the Computer Engineering program.
He received his MS and PhD in EE from Stanford University.During that time he co-authored RFC 1456 (Vietnamese character-encoding standard), contributed to the Unicode 1.1 Specification, and created and distributed a suite of open-source Vietnamese Unix/Windows software (winvnkey, vnterm, vnelvis, etc.).He received the BS EE&CS from U.C. Berkeley with Highest Honors.
His honors & activities include: U.S. Presidential Scholar, U.C. Alumni Scholar, U.C. Re-gents Fellowship, National Science Foundation Fellowship, California Micro Graduate Fel-lowship, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, memberships in the U.C Berkeley and Stanford alumni societies.His business won the Netscape Best Distributor of South Asia award 3 years consecutively.
