We welcome Kristen Nelsen, MSW, to the staff of our Waukesha office.Kristen has 15 years of social work experience.While earning her BS at the University of Minnesota in Family Relationships, she worked at Chrysalis providing crisis counseling and group counseling to women.After graduating from the University of Minnesota, she worked as a Program Specialist in a neighborhood center providing parent education, conducting home visits and support groups.In addition, Kristen worked at Head Start for two years as a Family Service Manager managing home based programs, parent involvement and social services. While in the process of earning her MSW in administrative and direct practice and her MFT certificate at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, she worked part-time at Lutheran Social Services where her responsibilities included: Leading teen parent support/education groups, conducting home visits, providing training for foster parents, teaching AIDS prevention, supervising the visitation program and facilitating the pre-marriage program.She completed her graduate fieldwork placements at Women & Families Psychotherapy Resources Inc. and at United Way in Milwaukee. Kristen is accepting new clients at our Waukesha office.She has experience treating anger, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and relationship concerns.To schedule an appointment, please call 262-547-5567.
