Neal and the other terminated employees refused to go along with a requirement under new union contracts that says all covered employees have to either join the Washington State Federation of Employees and pay dues, or pay lower fees and forgo voting rights in the union.

Neal said she definitely plans to return.
"I'm waiting anxiously at my door for the certified letter - or whatever our options there are," she said.
