BALARABE NAZEEPHY, Kano

THE chairman of the national executive council of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Chief Sunday Bolorunduro Awoniyi, has declared that as long as he remained the leader of the forum, selfish politicians would be prevented from using him to achieve their political objectives

Awoniyi, who expressed this resolve when he led the national executives of the ACF on a courtesy call on the governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, in continuation of their tour of the 19 northern states, lamented the subtle attempt by some politicians to use the forum to shore up their dwindling popularity

He stated that ACF was the only organisation in the country that was not religious, ethnic or political but had the vision of ensuring justice, transparency and brotherhood among the diverse people of the country

Explaining the reason for their visit, Awoniyi stated that the national executive of the ACF decided to undertake the tour of all northern states as part of efforts to bring everyone on board, particularly the governors to ensure the realisation of the forum's objectives

In his address on the occasion, the chairman of board of trustees of the ACF, Magaji Dambatta, restated the focus of the forum which, he said, was to ensure that northerners had regard for one another in pursuit of common socio-economic destiny
