   Jorge Navas, M.D.: Jorge Navas is Secretary of the Board of Trustees. He is a cardiologist who is a Senior Partner and member of the Board of Directors at Clearwater Cardiovascular and Interventional Consultants. His professional experience includes instructor and physician positions at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Woman's Hospital, Atlanta VA Hospital and Emory University. Jorge earned his BS degree from Notre Dame and his MD from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School. He serves as a Trustee on the Board at St. Paul's School. Jorge and his wife Elaine have three children, Michelle ('04), George ('06) and Nicole ('07).

   Dr. Jorge Navas is a cardiologist with Morton Plant, "The actual imaging takes only 10 seconds and is painless."
   
   Dr. Navas says the test may be used for people at high risk whose disease may be not be picked up on regular screening tests, "Until the heart disease is advanced, it might not be detected on a stress test, it might not be detected on an echocardiogram, and this test might identify early coronary plaques."
   
   For select patients, having this test available as an alternative to the more invasive heart catheterization is great news. Dr. Navas explains, "Both cardiologists and radiologists are very excited about this promising and new technique."

   Also, Dr. Navas says, the test works best who are under the age of 65 and for those who don't already have stents. At Morton Plant, the test costs under $900 but, for some conditions, that cost is covered by insurance or Medicare.
