Susie received her BA in English from UC Berkeley and an MA in TESL from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.After graduating from Cal, Susie was in the Peace Corps for three years in the Republic of Kiribati in the South Pacific where she worked closely with host country teachers teaching English as a foreign language in the elementary and secondary schools.Susie later worked as a journalist at a small town newspaper on eastern Long Island and on the development staff at The Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, New York.While doing her graduate work in Hawaii, Susie taught English at both the University of Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific University.Since moving to Santa Barbara, Susie has taught English Literature in the mornings at a small private high school and ESL night classes at Santa Barbara City College.This flexible part time schedule allows her to be home with her two-year-old son, Darby.Her husband, Brian, is an elementary school teacher.
