    The UNFPA Assistant Representative, Christopher Mwaijonga, told reporters that population stood at 6.2 per cent in 1967, and described the projected 46 per cent as a clear indication of rapid urban population growth.

    The UN official was speaking to reporters ahead of the official launching of the state of World Population report - 2007 scheduled for today.

    This year's report, according to Mwaijonga, is expected to carry youth supplement-features stories of young men and women growing up in cities of the developing world.
