ELENA MUSTAKOVA-POSSARDTElena Mustakova-Possardt is Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at the State University of West Georgia ( Carrollton , GA. ) She received her Ed.D. in Human Development in 1996 from the University of Massachusetts , Amherst . Her cross-cultural research on critical consciousness received the 1998 Best Dissertation of the Year Award of the American Association for Moral Education, as well as the 1995 Henry A. Murray Dissertation Award of Radcliffe College, Harvard.She has published articles in several professional journals, and contributed a chapter in a book on Spirituality, Ethics, and Relationships in Adulthood . Her book, Critical consciousness: A Study of Morality in Global Historical Context , was recently (2003) published in Greenwood 's Contributions to psychology series.Dr. Mustakova-Possardt teaches and specializes in lifespan development, moral, social and spiritual development, cross-cultural community development, and clinical counseling.She is a licensed professional counselor applying a holistic psycho-spiritual approach to her cross-cultural work with individuals, couples, and marginalized populations.Her commitment is to integrative peace studies and the global fostering of critical consciousness and health to assist humanity in its difficult transition toward unification.
