    Dr. Elena Mustakova-Possardt

    Elena Mustakova-Possardt was born in Sofia, Bulgaria.In 1990 she went to the U.S.A. to pursue doctoral work in human development at the University of Massachusetts.During this time, in 1993, she was introduced to the Faith and became a Bahá'í.

    Dr. Mustakova-Possardt is currently an Associate Professor in Psychology at the University of West Georgia as well as being a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice.Her work in re-thinking the field of moral psychology in the context of the study of critical consciousness won her the 1995 Dissertation Award of the Henry A. Murray Research Center for the Study of Lives at Harvard University and in 1998 the Best Dissertation of the Year Award of the Association for Moral Education.She teaches courses in Moral, Social and Spiritual Development, Transpersonal Psychology and Health Realization Counseling as well as Psychotherapy, Cross-Cultural Community Development and Prevention.

    Elena Mustakova-Possardt is also involved in extensive pro-bono work with immigrant Hispanic populations in rural West Georgia.
