Sheena Murphy new Hospice Peterborough Executive Director
Hospice Peterborough staff, volunteers and board members extend a warm welcome to Sheena Murphy, M.A., B.Ed., in her new appointment as executive director, effective September 1, 2004.
Ms. Murphy replaces Joan Higginson, who has retired after seven years in the position.

Reporting to a voluntary board, Ms. Murphy is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the agency, which offers an expanding range of services to people and families affected by advanced illness.Currently these services include: home support, a day respite program, caregiver and grief counseling, pain and symptom management and community education.
Ms. Murphy's background includes former positions as Manager of Hospice Scarborough, grief counselor and educator.
In the short time since her new appointment, Ms. Murphy has shown great enthusiasm, passion and commitment to the field of palliative care and to the goals of the local hospice.As a new arrival to Peterborough, she looks forward to getting to know the community through her work and recreational pursuits.
