"Our skill levels are progressing and we want trails that are challenging and push the envelope for us too," Munsell said.

"There's no place for cyclist to hang out around here," laments Santiam's Troy Munsell.

Also leading the way has been Troy Munsell of Santiam Bicycles in Salem. Troy has spent a considerable amount of time digging a trail called Granny's Kitchen.

"I've personally talked to a fellow from New York, someone from Virginia and a guy from North Carolina," said Troy Munsell, owner of Salem's Santiam Bicycles, which sponsors a local trail-building group.

Troy Munsell rides a freeride ramp at Falls City, where he and the Blackrock Freeride Association, a local mountain biking group, helped build an extensive trail system.
