About Us - Russ Munsell
Russ' life-long interest in transformational arts and sciences began in college in 1961 while taking a self-defense class in jui jitsu.
By 1967, as a doctoral student in Logic and the Methodology of Science at University of California, Berkeley, he began doing yoga and meditation. In 1968 he first established a daily practice that he maintains today.
His training has included: psychosynthesis, aikido, zazen meditation, kum nye, the five tibetans, and various styles of massage (esalen, polarity, do-in, chua ka).
Always eager to master diverse disciplines, during his 50 year career as a teacher and coach, he has taught mathematics and logic as a college professor; sailing and celestial navigation as director of a sailing school, walking, swimming, anatomy and kinesiology while co-directing the Health and Fitness Institute with his wife Suki and trained students for competition in Latin dancing.Twice he was awarded the NSA Crypto-mathematics award for his contributions.
As counselor-at-Large at Humboldt State University from 1969-84, Russ developed and directed interdisciplinary programs in accelerated learning and stress management, working with students and classes, athletes and teams, as well as chronic patients at the health center.
Russ is interested in the application and effects of training on everyday life.He continues to work with a variety of clients: medical patients, students, athletes, and executives, privately and at the Pine Street Chinese Medical Clinic in San Anselmo, California.Whether clients come to him wanting to heal, enhance athletic or artistic performance, manage their time and lives more effectively with less stress, or accelerate learning to pass medical or bar exams, Russ' strategies provide the psycho-physiological foundation to achieve and maintain their transformational goals.
In October 2004, to his amazement and delight, Russ' lifelong search for best practices took him to the Rubbo's Wellness class."I found a teacher," he told his wife Suki, after the first class."I have never before fully committed to a single practice," Russ realized.
