Mr. Mulroy is the youngest attorney in the firm to have successfully first-chaired medical malpractice trials in the Law Division of the Cook County Courts.He has extensive experience trying cases before juries involving the representation of medical professionals, hospitals, and corporations.
Mr. Mulroy has additional experience involving litigation on behalf of real estate and general business clients.In 2001, he prepared and argued a motion for summary judgment on behalf of real estate investment developer Catellus Development Corporation.The plaintiff's attorney had spent several years preparing the catastrophic tort case, and had issued a global demand of $25 million.Based on Mr. Mulroy's legal arguments, the case was dismissed against Catellus 29 days before the scheduled trial date.
In addition, he is the author of the brief filed in West Suburban Bank v. Attorneys' Title Insurance Fund, Inc., 326 Ill.App.3d 502 (2nd Dist.2001), a successful appeal involving an issue of first impression under the Commercial Real Estate Broker Lien Act.Mr. Mulroy's arguments were adopted by the Appellate Court, and now constitute the law of the State of Illinois on this issue.
Mr. Mulroy also has experience representing municipalities and public officials in connection with various matters.He successfully defended the Will County State's Attorney's Office in the case of Morrell v. Mock, 270 F.3d 1090 (7th Cir. 2001), a civil rights case involving intense media interest.Mr. Mulroy's victory in that case was affirmed by the Seventh Circuit Federal Appellate Court in a published opinion.
In 2003, Mr. Mulroy defended Naperville School District 203 in a high-profile contract case involving issues of contract law and school law.
Finally, Mr. Mulroy has defended a number of complex cases involving technical application of engineering principles, such as extrusion manufacturing and accident reconstruction.Professional BackgroundIn 2006, Mr. Mulroy was selected by his peers and named by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer Magazine as one of the top "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch."In addition, he has been selected for inclusion in the 2008 edition of "The Best Lawyers in America®" in the area of commercial litigation.
In 2008 and again in 2009, Illinois Super Lawyers named Mr. Mulroy to its Rising Star list.Recipients of this award have practiced law for less than 10 years or are 40 years old or younger.
