Andy MullinsAs president and chief operating officer, Andy Mullins is responsible for executing Candle Corp.'s strategy, delivering products, services and support to its customers, and achieving annual financial targets.Previously, as senior vice president and general manager of Candle's eBusiness Group, which encompassed the Business Integration Solutions and eBusiness Assurance® (eBA®) business units, Mullins decreased time to market of new products and services, streamlined business processes and built new customer relationships.
From 1999 to 2000, Mullins served as vice president and general manager, Candle Europe, responsible for guiding the strategic direction of Candle's European operations.He oversaw all functional areas, including sales, customer support, finance, contracts, consulting and services, human resources, legal and R&D.He built and maintained an integrated pan-European team, focused on strengthening Candle's position in the European marketplace.
Mullins is an accomplished IT executive with more than 20 years of expertise in managing corporate and academic IS organizations, setting strategic direction, integrating system and business technologies, and providing leadership for IS and business management teams.
Prior to joining Candle in 1995, he was director of IT and cooperative processing at MCI Communications Inc., where he was responsible for managing and implementing a business process re-engineering effort across the networkMCI IT arena, with a focus on customer service.In this position, he directed a staff of more than 200 technical engineers and managers.He designed and executed programs to restructure the organization to meet growing customer demands, establish service portfolios and re-engineer business and technical processes in support of these efforts.
Prior to MCI, Mullins worked for Digital Equipment Corp. for 10 years in a variety of IS management positions, including data processing manager and technical support services manager.Mullins co-managed the networking, data center and development environment for the U.S. customer support centers, consisting of 4,800 employees.He also successfully managed the design and startup of two major data centers, including the migration from existing facilities to new buildings in Atlanta and Colorado Springs, Colo., with no application downtime.
While at DEC, Mullins received the Outstanding Operations Manager Award in 1986, 1987 and 1989.
In addition to his corporate career, Mullins also has served in academia.While pursuing a graduate degree in MIS at West Virginia University, he was assistant director of computing services at the institution, as well as chairman of the West Virginia Network for Educational Telecomputing.
Prior to that, he served for four years as director of computer services and institutional research at Concord College in Athens, West Va., where he also taught mathematics and computer science.
