    Morton was born June 15, 1909, in Blackwell, Okla., to Mary (Beekler) and Joseph C. Morton.He attended schools in Blackwell and Winfield.

    On Nov.26, 1933, he married Ethel May Arrington in Kechi.

    During World War II he served in the Pacific aboard the Navy hospital ship USS Repose.

    Morton worked for Safeway in Winfield, Kingman and Anthony before becoming an agent for Woodmen Accident and Life Insurance Co.He retired as district manager in 1973.

    The Mortons moved to Winfield in 1981 and were the first residents in the Cumbernauld Village apartments in June 1989.His wife died Aug.9, 1998.

    Morton was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was active in Methodist Men in Anthony and Winfield.He was in Kiwanis in both Anthony and Winfield and served as lieutenant governor.He was also a member of the Anthony Chamber of Commerce and the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
