Roy has worked in many aspects of the building industry both with Consulting Engineers, in the capacity of Associate and Partner and as a leader of large design teams on behalf of major contractors. Roy has opened and run an Engineering Consultancy office, also in Abu Dhabi, for a period of 2 years. He has undertaken a considerable amount of "Design and Construct" work over the last 15 years and has acted in the capacity of Site Agent and Contracts Manager in the past.

He originally moved to Bath in 1981 where he was Deputy Chief Engineer with Marples Ridgeway, working largely on power station projects overseas. More recently (1991) he was General manager of a construction company in the Bristol area responsible for a ,15 million refurbishment of a grade 2 listed building.

Roy has considerable experience in the design of insitu reinforced concrete and has been involved as principal engineer in a number of multi-storey precast concrete structures. More recently he has worked on the stabilisation, refurbishment and alteration of listed buildings. Roy has been involved in the examination and reporting on the condition of a number of buildings in the recent past, acting in conjunction with rope access teams to provide close inspection of the building facades. Roy is a qualified planning supervisor.
