Dan Morden, superintendent at the gorge in Elora, has said a total alcohol ban wouldn't be fair to the other campers, and I agree.However, I would be willing to forgo my glass of wine if it would stop these idiots from spoiling the summer.

Here are my suggestions for a safer experience:

Ban all alcohol for at least one season;

"There's the odd bump and bruise," said Dan Morden, superintendent at the conservation area.

He said a sign is posted where people sign up for the activity, warning them that the river can be rough.

If the water gets too rough, tubing activities are cancelled.

"People know what they're getting into," said Morden."It's a natural environment, it's not controlled like a water park.We can't control how fast the water flows."

That fast-flowing water swept 10-year-old Jordan Ramnarine away from his parents.

He and his tube were carried down the river at a fast speed, and his parents couldn't catch up.
