Jeff Moran
Born into the business Jeff's overall knowledge of antiques is nothing short of extraordinary. After attending and graduating from Pasadena City College, he attended UC Santa Cruz. An accomplished auctioneer in his own right, Jeff handles fine art consignments as well as antiques.
A typical day might find Jeff meeting a client at 7 a.m. for an appraisal in San Marino, picking up an estate in Ojai at 11 a.m., then off to Simi Valley by 3 p.m. to appraise and lot number another estate, then back to the office by 5 p.m. to meet a client with a Granville Redmond painting.
You would think this take up all his time, but no. He is the Training Officer of the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team and has been a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department for ten years. Having received Mountain Rescuer of the year award in 1999, he is truly a man with a purpose and love for life. -

Jeff Moran was Recognized for His Outstanding Efforts In July 1999 at the Mountain Rescue Association's annual meeting in Tucson Arizona, our training officer, Jeff Moran was recognized for his outstanding efforts in the develpoment of a training program for members of the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team.
From the inspiration and efforts of our Training Officer, our team now has a "Training Academy" where he teaches probationary members the skills needed for mountain rescue. The topics covered in this Academy go from the basics of knots, rope management, and anchors, to the complex such as raising/lowering systems, ascending, and rappelling all with knot passing. Probationers learned the techniques in victim pick-offs, litter rigging, and trail and terrain. For every topic Jeff provides direct supervision of the probationers as they demonstrate their proficiency in day and night trainings.
Putting on a program of this intensity required the dedication of many hours. Our academy met 3 days a week for a period of 3 months with Jeff overseeing each aspect of the course. Each trainee receives more than 300 hours of instruction, both in the classroom and in the field. During the rest of the year the training continues in the form of weekly probationer training and a monthly team training.
Jeff is an avid supporter of the MRA and is always promoting the organization to the public and rescue community. By keeping himself well read and by attending as many MRA type events as possible, Mr. Moran has kept our team well apprised of the latest advances and techniques in mountain rescue. He incorporates these into both the probationer and full member trainings. While the probationary members may lack field experience, Jeff has given them the knowledge and skills to participate as valued members of our team.
