    Steven H. Mora represents leading insurance carriers in coverage disputes, particularly in the areas of directors' and officers' (D&O) liability and professional negligence claims, and provides senior counsel on policy interpretation. He also represents attorneys, accountants and other professionals in defense of errors and omissions cases, as well as Fortune 500 and smaller corporations in commercial litigation.

    Mr. Mora has been in private practice for most of his 34-year career and has successfully represented International Insurance Co. in the noteworthy directors' and officers' cases involving the United American Banks of Tennessee and also successfully represented Reliance Insurance Co. in the groundbreaking directors' and officers' case involving VMS Realty. More recently, he has defended one of the largest cases in Illinois alleging accounting malpractice and represents a Fortune 500 corporation in a variety of litigation involving international trade and breach of warranty.

    Before entering private practice, from 1975 to 1977, he served as legal counsel to the Governor of Illinois. Mora began his career as a clerk for Judge Floyd R. Gibson of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. Subsequently, he served for three years as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois during which time he worked on the case of U.S. v. Otto Kerner and was lead trial counsel in U.S. v. William Rentschler and U.S. v. Steel City Bank.

    A frequent author on D&O issues and professional malpractice, Mr. Mora has written numerous articles for the American Bar Association and other legal journals.

    Mora received his B.A. in politics from Brandeis University in 1965 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1968. He is a past chair of the professional, officers' and directors' liability law committee of the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Circuit Court for the 7th and 8th Circuits.
